Biography

Anna Simi, lives and works in Bari, Italy.
Passionate about her studies on the history of photography and self-taught shooting techniques, she starts attending workshops at the “Museum of Photography of the Politecnico“ in Bari, where she gets exposed to prestigious names in the world of photography, architecture, design and publishing.
Anna proposes to the above mentioned museum, the project “Capissce a mmè?”, reaching high levels marks which allow her to launch her first gallery show in February 2014.
The success of the show takes Anna and her work to exhibit in Spain and Germany too.

“Capissce a mmè?” is her debut book and it is the result of research and studies going deep into the roots of the cultural and rural traditions of the “Barese” people, revealed in the gestures and facial expressions of the wonderful characters portrayed in Anna’s images.
As you will find out, turning page after page, the people of Bari can definitely and fully express themselves with gestures, no need of a single spoken word.
